Dirty Louvers

Composition:  I composed the photographs so that the louvers take up 1/3 of the photograph.  I chose to use 2/3 of the photograph for the sky to counteract the heaviness of the bottom 1/3.

Distorted Entry

Composition:  By using a wide angle lens to photograph elements that are extruded perpendicular to the lens, a heavy distortion is created, giving the appearance that the extrusions are longer than they are.

Water Treatment

Building:  Cool Water Treatment
Location:  Ames, IA

Composition:  Elevation shot of the water treatment plant at ISU.  I liked this shot as the very clean white wall has started to leak over the years, creating paths of mold and mildew on the sides of the building.
Process:  Because of the security of the facility, I had to take the photograph through a fence.  As a result, I had to photoshop out parts of the fence that intruded into the photograph.

Shading Roof

Composition:  I wanted to capture the three spaces that are created through the use of shading.  There is the unenclosed area on the left, the enclosed but not shaded section in the center and the enclosed and shaded area on the left.

Broken Doors

Building: Department of Entomology Shed
Location:  Ames, IA

Composition:  I wanted to focus on the run down nature of the shed.  I used B&W to accentuate the atmosphere os a run down building.  I composed the image so that the building came 2/3 of the way into the image and that the doors, which are the building component in the worst condition were at the other 1/3 of the photograph.

Barn Doors
