Wind Power
Building: ISU Wind Turbine
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 1-2pm
Composition: I initially was interested in capturing the rotating turbine, but after seeing the video, the movement of clouds in the background is much more interesting. To make the movement of the turbine more fluid, I would want to take pictures at a faster framerate and then play them at a rate faster than 30 fps.
Process: Using aperature priority, I took 1 photo per second for 1 hour and then combined the images into a video at 30 fps

Air Gap
Building: Cyride Facility
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 12:45pm
Composition: Looking up between a sun shade and a glass wall. The sun shade doesn't have any holes in it so light isn't allowed to pass through. I really liked the pattern of the supports that connect from the building roof to the sun shade.

Building: Bio Renewable
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 10:29am

Building: Lab of Mechanics
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 12:05am
Composition: Looking up at the corner detail of the building. The two windows and the chimney and partial dormer window somewhat balance the shot.

Estate
Building: Enrollment Services Center
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 5:05pm
Composition: This building, from the rear, to me, has an estate feel to it. I included the grass field in the image to give the appearance that the building is sitting on a large field of grass. The facade in this image, due to parking no longer acts as the primary entrance and as a result is hardly ever used.

An Open Window
Building: Nuclear Engineering Lab
Location: Ames, IA

Window Decorations
Building: Marston Hall
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 12:05 pm
Composition: I wanted to focus on the differences in decoration between the two windows. The differences make me wonder if they relate/related to room function or was simple a way of decorating buildings at the time of construction.
Process: When I straightened the verticals of this image, it was so distorted that the floor to floor height looked very tiny. By Shrinking the width of the image, the distortion was removed and the windows became more proportional.

Rising Tower
Building: Marston Water Tower
Location: Ames, IA
Time: 5:01pm
Composition: Unlike my last image of the water tower, this image is meant to capture the symbology of the tower around campus.
Process: I aligned the vertical of the central shaft so that it was straight up and in the center of the image. I took the image in black and white due to the storm clouds that filled the sky. The black and white image allowed for more contrast in the image between the subject and the background.
