MacKay Hall Auditorium

Building:  MacKay Hall
Location: Ames, IA
Time:  5:37 pm October 11
Composition:  Shot almost on axis from the balcony of the main auditorium.  Class was just getting out, so people are moving around.  The slower shutter speed blurred the people, showing that they are moving.
Critique:  I though the chandelier in this auditorium was more grand... that's why I chose to shoot here.  Obviously, it is not as grand as I remembered.  The degree to which I am off axis so so marginal, that it is bothersome.  I should have either gone way off axis or been directly on axis.
Process:  None
Meta Data:  18mm     f/4.5     SS:1/5s     ISO:100

  1. You'll have to come back and shoot this space again late next year when we've completed the renovation of this room. Most of the historic elements at the room's perimeter will be kept and restored, but the balcony and main floor will be replaced by multiple tiers of seating on a new structure up the middle of the room.

The chandelier has seen better days. It is actually bent pretty badly on its north side. We didn't realize this until we were looking at the 3D laser scan of the space that we have been using.
